Our First Fight (#4 OFV Series)

It was Valentine when we had our first fight.
As I think about it now, I don’t remember why we had a row
But I remember it was a bitter battle of bickering bereft of a breakthrough,
You battered me with your words, babbling like a brook over how I blew you bankrupt.
We played a vicious game of Monopoly,
I passed Go but you refused to pay up,
You would rather go to jail than spend more time with me on our board
And I was bored, and angry, and upset
So I said mean words I didn’t mean
And you meant the mean words you couldn’t say.
We spent days refusing to speak with each other,
Steaming like a pot of soup
I thought we were birds of a feather but we found ourselves in a pot of soup
Cooking slowly and definitely surely.
“Were we headed for our end?”, I asked myself
Unsure of our previously beautiful future,
And it all started with
Our First Fight.

A storm in and not over paradise, I see. Catch the finale tomorrow! Love,

The End before a Beginning

I’ve been thinking for a while now that our fates are intertwined; that our hearts are meant to beat as one to the melodies of the stars.
I see the way you look at me, and you see the way I look at you. This heart, whose fragility is akin to glass, yearns for you, for you alone can break its fall. Trust me, it’s not as lovely as they make it seem being alone.
I don’t know why, but I still can’t approach you to realize these dreams that keep me awake. You’ve always been the strongest of us. You’ve always been the one to take an initiative. Why don’t you give me a sign now?
You think I’m confident but I’m not. I hate this irony; the one person I long to talk to is the one person I can’t take a step towards. So how do I get your attention?
Movies say jealousy is key, and since I can approach everyone but you, why not? I’ll flock every sheep to make your little bow peep, so that you soon see that my heart is yours to keep.

Hey
I heard something but I’m not milling for rumours so I just had to confirm…
Is it true?
Has the one I long for given himself to others?
I know we weren’t together
But I thought we had something
Something beautiful that would blossom,
Metamorphose into fluttering butterflies of love.
The same butterflies that fill me when I see you
But that can’t be anymore.
You’ve fallen for others while I was preparing myself for you
You’re on a path that I can’t follow you on.
I’m sorry
Our ship sailed before we could even get on it…
What do you mean you thought the jealousy game would work?
I’m done with that.
I refuse to harbour any green monsters.
Tell me things straight and don’t pass corners
So now in your attempt to win my hand,
You lost my heart.

A beautiful collaboration between myself and Inconspicuous_. Word of advice, if you want to ask someone to be your Valentine, just ask now, hehe (in a Nigerian accent).
